The Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar was inducted into the International Cricket Council's Hall of Fame and he was presented with the Hall of Fame cap by India's 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev in the induction ceremony took place at the residence of Ajay Sethi in Dubai and the Sethi is the Director of the Channel 2 group.
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat and former Pakistan captains Waqar Younis, Ramiz Raja and Aamir Sohail were present during the occasion for the gavaskar has played for India at the International level for 16 years, representing the country in 125 Test matches and 108 ODIs. He was the 1st player to cross 10,000 runs in Test cricket and he also held the record of the most number of centuries at one time.
Gavaskar was thrilled to receive the cap from Kapil Dev who was his captain at the ICC Cricket World Cup 1983: "Kapil is somebody who I consider as the greatest Indian cricketer and to receive this cap from him is a real big plus, a real big honour and the Kapil and I have had some wonderful times playing in the Indian team to being part of the World Cup winning squad is a memory that will always stay with me Kapil lifting the Cup at Lord's is something that I will always treasure and to receive the cap from him makes this occasion even more special."
